Ompyrean

J. Wayne founded Ompyrean and edits Avataric Ambitions. Volume I moves from the distinction between higher and lower metaphysics into the soul’s emergence, the struggle with mental habits, and the possibility of spiritual transmission.

In the editor’s account, the tiger’s 3D glasses carry a double image: the deficit of a being who cannot yet see in a higher dimension and a theatrical caricature of the being’s attained sight. The figure belongs to the magazine’s effort to awaken the reader’s dormant imagination.

The word Ompyrean is a portmanteau of OM and empyrean, representing the higher and the lower metaphysics, respectively. Ompyrean designates the synthesis of the extra-celestial and the celestial as it finds expression.

This synthesis must find coherence in the essential soul of man: in what ultimately enregisters experience, internally collates meaning, and champions aesthetics and semiotics.

The ideal reader finds correspondence with the notion of a brahmin-to-be. This self-recognition includes the progressive possibility whereby errors may be discovered, learned from, and corrected, together with an awareness that progress is not assured and degeneration remains possible.

Correction returns to the reader themselves: to their responsibility as an agent and influence in the world.

This reader is not satisfied with exchanging identifying labels one after another as though they held the power of magical spells, or as though merely agreeing with a description would produce transformation. The reader knows there is no occult advantage in the mere joining of a group or in having associated with one.

Yet opportunities are always present for growth, learning and spiritual application. Environments, groups and associations can become material for one’s own and others’ development, as well as for community and civilizational development.

This does not occur merely by creating the right description, logo or mission statement. There are immediate steps: overcoming erroneous assumptions and wrongly learned habits of thought, and transcending those weaknesses developed in our ability to attend, to care, to act, to think and to speak.

We have been impeded in numerous ways by how we have previously lived and by our upbringing through family and culture. When these obstacles arrive in awareness, consciousness can take them as material and challenge.

This psychological growth is critical for the victories that even one’s mental identifications would like to achieve, let alone for the spiritual conquest of Ignorance in the religious sense.

The psychological maturation of one’s personality is an immediate process because one must work with how one currently is. If one begins with psychological self-understanding and a vital willpower to succeed, one can go a long way.
